Every painter has a list of things they wish they had known earlier. In 10 Things I WISH I Knew When I Started Painting Warhammer, Alex from Alex Paints shares his – ten short, practical points aimed at anyone in their first year of the hobby.

On brushes
One of the ten is about how long people put up with worn-out synthetic brushes. Alex points viewers to the Hawk Miniatures brush sets he put together – the Alex Paints Essentials and the Deluxe version, which differ only in the handles – and makes the comparison that stuck with a lot of viewers: a full set of four Kolinsky sable brushes from Hawk costs around £10 less than a single Winsor & Newton Series 7.
The other nine
The rest of the list covers mindset, priming, thinning paint, when to stop, and a few things about the hobby community that are easy to get wrong early on. It is a short video and a good one to send to anyone just getting started.
