The £3.60 brush
This is the first Alex Paints video to feature a Hawk brush. In an earlier starter-set video Alex compared the bundled brush with a £30 Winsor & Newton Series 7 and, as he puts it, quite rightly got told that was not very beginner-friendly. So this time the comparison brush is a pure Kolinsky sable he bought from Hawk Miniatures for £3.60 – “less than four quid” – to prove that a cracking brush does not have to cost much. He then uses it through the video to see how it holds up. The same brushes are in our round Kolinsky sable range today.
What else is in the video
Alex works through the models and paints in the Introductory Set, what he thinks Games Workshop has left out, and what he would add for a first-time painter.

Alex’s channel, Alex Paints, is worth a subscribe if you paint Warhammer or any other small things – it’s one of the more honest voices in the hobby, and he only recommends what he actually uses.
