New Video: Alex Paints Reviews the Orks Boyz + Paints Starter Set – and Points Beginners to Hawk

“The starter set guy” is back. In How Good Is the Warhammer Orks: Boyz + Paints Starter Set?, Alex from Alex Paints builds and paints the Ork Boyz starter set using only what is in the box, and gives an honest verdict on the models, the paints and the brush.

If the video doesn’t load above, watch it on YouTube.

Alex’s verdict on the brush

The starter brush experience, he says, “wasn’t too bad” – but you could do a lot worse than swapping the synthetic for some natural hair. He recommends Hawk Miniatures and mentions the starter pack he put together with us, which gives you natural sable brushes you can get right into the detail with, at a price that will not break the bank. That pack is the Alex Paints Essentials set: sizes 0, 1, 2 and 3.

What else is in the video

Alex covers the Boyz kit itself, the included paint selection (he has thoughts on the lack of a red), how the recommended scheme comes together, and whether this box is a good first buy for someone who wants to paint greenskins.

Alex’s channel, Alex Paints, is worth a subscribe if you paint Warhammer or any other small things – it’s one of the more honest voices in the hobby, and he only recommends what he actually uses.
