Shoulder pad trim is one of those jobs that separates a tidy Space Marine from a messy one. In How To Paint Space Marine Shoulder Pad Trim, Alex from Alex Paints shows two approaches and the hand positions that make them work.

The brush
For the second method – base colour down first, then the gold trim added with the brush – Alex uses a Hawk Miniatures size 3. A size 3 sounds large for edge work, but with a good point on it he runs the brush at an angle along the raised edge of the trim and lets the belly of the brush do the work. It is a good demonstration of why a bigger Kolinsky sable round is often the better tool for a clean line.
