Captain Souter Gandamak · 44th Foot last stand miniature 90mm · First Afghan War 1842

One of the most famous last stands in British military history: this 90mm scale figure depicts Lieutenant (Captain) Souter of the 44th (Essex) Regiment of Foot at Gandamak, 1842. During the catastrophic retreat from Kabul in the First Anglo-Afghan War, a handful of survivors made their final stand on the hill at Gandamak — and Souter, who had wrapped a regimental colour around his body, was among the few taken alive. Sculpted by Mike Good, it’s a powerful, characterful centrepiece.

The kit is a multi-part figure supplied unassembled and unpainted, and requires assembly. Any groundwork shown in the photographs was provided by the artist and is not included. Not suitable for children under 12.
